Well, I've a Creative Vibra16 (nonpnp) card, and on 2.2.1, the driver finds
it every time, and rosegarden CAN play it, I only need to setup the midi
device somewhere in his menu.

Maybe the problem is your not-too-compatibel-with-the-driver SB16.
