The following reply was made to PR ports/168633; it has been noted by GNATS. From: Thomas Zander <thomas.e.zander@googlemail.com> To: bug-followup@FreeBSD.org, ports-xorg-server@oldach.net Cc: Subject: Re: ports/168633: new bsd.options.mk breaks x11-servers/xorg-server configuration without HAL Date: Sun, 3 Jun 2012 15:37:28 +0200 "Me too". We have seen this problem with other ports as well, for example multimedia/ogmtools and its dependency on libdvdread. In this particular case, why can't we get rid of hal altogether? It's a horrible horrible terrible horrid superfluous piece of software that should really not be anywhere near xorg-server. Riggs
