when do i type those commands?

i am not at familiar with alpha systems. sorry.
i worked only with i386 so far. this is my first alpha experience.
(and i am supposed to do it right from the beginning)

PS . when i boot the computer it gives an error like message
"cannot find DQxxx -something- file for boot"

what does it mean? after that it passes on and boot the True 64 UNIX it has
installed. i want to remove that system and put freeBSD.

thank you.

It took the computing power of three C-64s to fly to the Moon.
It takes an 800Mhz P3 to run Windows XP.
 Something is wrong here.

What does SHOW DEVICES tell you?

BOOT DQA0 for an IDE CD drive or BOOT DKA400 (or similar) for a SCSI CD
should do it.
