Take a look at NUT - Network UPS Tools.  It manages over two dozen
different UPS brands, and can notify other machnes in the network to
power down in case of battery and AC failure.  It's in the ports tree
at sysutils/nut, but you'll want to go to http://www.exploits.org/nut/
to download the windows client.
