You must add the following line to your /etc/rc.conf:
dumpdev=3D"AUTO"

Also add this line to your /etc/sysctl.conf:
debug.debugger_on_panic=3D0

The core dump is written to the swap device when the crash occurs.
During the next boot, it's written to the specified kern.corefile path.
