Subject: gnome 2.9.91, ports numbering strangeness...

Hi.

I recently took the plunge to upgrade to gnome 2.9.91 with Marcus' cvs
script. Things are running quite well. However, when I updated my ports
tree after things were all over and ran portupgrade -ary, I am observing
some strangeness. Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

1) First, I noticed that pkg_version -l '<' -v yields incorrect updating
info for fileroller...

fileroller-2.9.91 < needs updating (port has
2.8.4,1)

2) When I upgrade gstreamer-plugins that correctly reports,

gstreamer-plugins-0.8.7 < needs updating (port has
0.8.7_1)

it remakes glib (it ought not?, and reports incorrectly that an older
version is installed) stopping with the message

===>  Installing for glib-2.4.8
===>   glib-2.4.8 depends on file: /usr/local/bin/perl5.8.6 - found
===>   glib-2.4.8 depends on executable: pkg-config - found
===>   Generating temporary packing list
===> Checking if devel/glib20 already installed
===> An older version of devel/glib20 is already installed
(glib-2.6.2)
      You may wish to ``make deinstall'' and install this port again
      by ``make reinstall'' to upgrade it properly.
      If you really wish to overwrite the old port of devel/glib20
      without deleting it first, set the variable "FORCE_PKG_REGISTER"
      in your environment or the "make install" command line.
