The one we have now unquestionably sucks.
Even when you know what you are looking for you can't find it.

Their test version seems fantastic.

Sounds like a good idea.

Assuming that there are literally no licensing issues, I think we should
look to take them up on it though - I can't see any reason why our users
would prefer our search engine over their one.

I also think we should take them up on the offer of the searchable mail
archive.
