On my 2.1.5 machine:
sh MAKEDEV pty1
(read MAKEDEV, and in it you will see, that the number will generate the nth
32 pty.  So pty0 will generate ptyp0...ptypv, and pty1 will ptyq0..ptyqv,
etc.)
