From time-to-time we see these types of responses to the
questions list. In my opinion, they are happening for two
reasons. 1) There is documentation that says if you have questions
to send mail to questions@freebsd.org. Those who are introduced
to FreeBSD via a 'commercial channel' (such as buying discs
from freebsdmall) assume they are directing their email
to a corporation. 2) these responses come due to a level
of consumer expectation from an OS install.

Concerning the latter, I have seen more than once the
response of the group to be, 'what an idiot, doesn't he
know...', or 'FreeBSD is not meant for uninformed...]'.

Personally, I use FreeBSD in many capacities. And yes,
the current install allows me to configure my systems
the way I see fit in an efficient manner. However, this
does not mean that FreeBSD could not provide a streamlined
desktop version in the install. But maybe I am off track
here. Maybe anyone asking for this type of OS should be
pointed to Max OSX or some derivative thereof.

If we don't have a solution, a kind reply that we don't
would be sufficient. I think that this would indicate that,
'we hear and understand you, but what you are asking for
is not what FreeBSD is intended to do, why don't you try...'.

However, if the defensive repsonses indicate that we are
feeling guilty, maybe FreeBSD should listen and begin
incorporating suggestions from others where it is appropriate.
