1)  Is the second file different from the first?  i.e. size change, diff, etc.

If true, then uudecode did run.

2)  Is it a plain text file, or a Word Document or some such that will have a 
bunch of formatting at the front?

If it is a plain text file, then it may have been mangled during its passage
through the internet.  Ask the user to resend.

Otherwise, find a proper viewer.
