The UK is still a monarchy, the Queen is the head of state. She still,
constitutionally holds power. That power is wielded by the prime minister
but he still seeks permission from the Queen to do so, though of course
that's largely ceremonial these days.

To answer your question in simple terms, the House of Commons holds most
power and the members of parliament who sit in that house are elected
directly by the people.
