I have installed a sound card acording to the handbook

device pcm
device sbc

After compiling and rebooting cat /dev/sndstat gives:

FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Dec 11 2000 18:50:35
Installed devices:
pcm0: <SB DSP 4.16> at io 0x220 irq 5 drq 1:5 (1p/1r channels duplex)

So i go to /dev and do a MAKEDEV snd0

Now i can do a cdcontrol -f acd0 play, and it will play my cd fine.

Now i want to play an mp3 file, so i go to ports and install amp, and
x11amp
but if i try to play an mp3 file with either i get nothing but silence
:-(

x11amp starts showing some nice rythms like it's playing.
If i turn up the volume fully on the speakers i can here some changes in
the background noice, but nothing that sounds like music.
