 I found the source of this problem right after posting the report.
 This problem happened after I upgraded to lang/perl5.10: I was missing
 the option WITH_USE_PERL.
 
 After having recompiled lang/perl5.10 with the option WITH_USE_PERL
 set to "true", I could install the port chinese/ttf2pt1 with no
 problems.
 
 IMHO the importance of the option WITH_USE_PERL should be pointed out
 in /usr/ports/UPDATING, at the entry 20090328. Other ports need that
 option, such as multimedia/ffmpeg.
