This actually looks like a memory corruption issue.  If this is
-CURRENT, try doing:

ln -sf aj /etc/malloc.conf

And see if the problem goes away.  If it does, recompile Evo and gal2
with debugging symbols, and get the back trace again without the
malloc.conf.  Most likely they're double-free'ing something.
