Sure. Use a crossover cable or plug the boxes into a switch and make sure
each NIC is set to full-duplex. In a full duplex environment collisions
are an impossibility.

If you're getting a ton of them and it's just those two machines plugged
into a hub, make sure neither is set to full-duplex. If it is, it'll
transmit without listening to see if anything else is talking already,
which'll cause that collision light to work overtime.
