The main reason being I do not like getting multiple copies, nor do I like continuing to get messages addressed directly to me when it's no longer a reply to something I said. 2. Go read the press release again. It does not say they'll use the GPL; rather, it says they'll make it free "in the spirit of the GPL." This may be the GPL after all; I think it's more likely that it'll be a non-commercial-use license, though.
