Ranger with non-ascii character filenames

Using py-ranger with non-ascii characters leads to wrong display of these
characters (see attachment).

I'm running FreeBSD 10.1/amd64 with the following .login_conf (UTF-8):
# $FreeBSD: release/10.0.0/share/skel/dot.login_conf 77995 2001-06-10 17:08:53Z
ache $
#
# see login.conf(5)

#me:\
# :charset=iso-8859-1:\
# :lang=de_DE.ISO8859-1:

me:\
    :charset=en_GB.UTF-8:\

Thank you for your help!
