You can edit in /usr/ports/x11-toolkits/vte/files/patch-src_vte.c by 
change from 50 to 15, then close gnome-terminal and run portupgrade -f 
vte\* in xterm. After that, test on gnome-terminal and let us know if it 
helps. It does solve my problem of "frame-by-frame" and "feel slow".
