"mark" is one of the "facilities" that you can define/undefine in
/etc/syslog.conf
try man 5 syslog.conf

if it bothers you, you can add ";mark.none" on the line that defines
syslog output messages to /dev/console.

FYI, man says:
"
 The special facility ``mark'' receives a message at priority ``info'' ev-
 ery 20 minutes (see syslogd(8)).  This is not enabled by a facility field
 containing an asterisk.

 The special level ``none'' disables a particular facility.

                                                                        "
