I have been temping at Microsoft for a while now. They have a term for this 
operation: "flatten."

As in, "CMS2002 is acting up on that box and authoring mode is broken... we 
need to flatten it. It's scheduled for next Monday."

Here, deep in Mordor, it's a way of life. :)
