YES!  That's the whole point of x86-64 ^H^H^HAMD64.  Just like your i386
was the fastest 16-bit "8086" ever, the amd64 is the fastest 32-bit
"i386" ever.  And just like your i386 ran 16-bit MS-DOS just fine, AMD64
runs your 32-bit OS just fine (and 16-bit MS-DOS also).
