You might try MAKEDEV snd1.  I am using 3.2-STABLE from May 27th.

Also in my dmesg I get:

es1: <AudioPCI ES1370> rev 0x00 int a irq 10 on pci0.9.0
pcm1: using I/O space register mapping at 0xe800

I can test out some more stuff later, if you need me too.
