I have that all the time. Windows 2000 tries to update DNS by default.
You can switch this off on the W2K station by:
Start -> Settings -> Network & dial-up connections ->
(Your network interface): Properties ->
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) -> Properties -> Advanced ->
DNS tab -> "Register the connection's address in DNS"
But as said, leaving it on won't harm your name server.
