I apply the patch without changes to freetype 2.4.12 and it compiles on

[ota@squitch ota]$ uname -a
FreeBSD squitch 8.3-RELEASE-p6 FreeBSD 8.3-RELEASE-p6 #26: Wed Mar 20
16:02:44 BRT 2013 ota@squitch:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/SQUITCH i386

But, to work, a bunch of environment variables must be configured. A
script is available with the patch. The script suggest add a

"# This file should be copied to /etc/profile.d/ for system-wide
# effects and/or included in ~/.bashrc or ~/.bash_profile for per-user
# effects:
#
# . ~/path/to/this/file/infinality-settings.sh"

Where is the best place to put this script? And what is the best
approach to each user use this? Add a warning after install saying to
the user add a call to script?
