You need to use ATAPI/CAM with k3b and your user needs access to
/dev/xpt0, /dev/cd0 and corresponding /dev/pass device.
(run "camcontrol devlist" to determine the pass device.)
Then always refer to the cdrom drive as /dev/cd0, so if you've added
/dev/acd0 to /etc/fstab for instance, replace it with /dev/cd0.
