Sheldon,
I'm not arguing with everyone. However, in all the posting I've
had in this ML your name is constant. By this, I'm not saying you
are picking on me, nor that you don't have a valid point, nor
I am saying that I have not heeded to your advice. I have heeded
to your advice.

The point with regards to this patch are my opinion. I've
gone out of my way to way IMO. Therefore, if you believe someone
is arguing, I don't. Else they would note, that I've said
IMO. In this case, everyone is free to say, "yes it's your
opinion, but I don't believe it."

I for one don't believe I've ever stated that your opinion
carries no weight or has no value. Quite the contray, I've just
said it did.

As for the M$ points, I believe there are legitimate points
to technical issues. That is, given this patch gets
added to the distribution release, it will give rise to new technical
issues. Issues, I believe, FreeBSD is not ready to handle
_at this time_.

As for the techincal feasibility, I have never argued that the
aforementioned patch was not technically feasible. I know it's
feasible and I know that submitter does this with all the best
intentions.

Further, I am not stating that 'legally' supported characters should
not be allowed in the username. I know quite the contrary. I know
that, if I wanted to, I could add '$' to my name or many other
fields in passwd(5). Just as any other person could.

Lastly, I am not advocating NOT giving the administrator the
proper tools to do the right thing. I'm advocating that the
user always be given the right tools.

So as you can see, we are not really arguing. And we are NOT
really that far apart.

As such, I would request that you wait for my response in
two (2) days, as I've stated in another thread. My feeling is that
there is already to much stress because of the latest release and
the I should be as fair as I can to the submitter.

I don't feel that giving the submitter a hurried response
to his request for more feedback would be appropriate.
Also, I do feel that it's easy to mis-understand the issue
GIVEN my *original* statement. As such, I request you wait
two (2) days.

					best regards,
					Jessem.
