If you want to be able to do an unattended shut down then you have
limited options. The APC Smart-UPS series should work. Check the ports
for some utilities that work with APC Smart-UPS.

A UPS from Best Power will also work well. If you get a UPS from Best
Power you will get the source code for their driver which you compile.
The instructions are pretty good and it works fine in FreeBSD.
