Hmmm.  I was hoping for an explanation of why the other interpretation
(deleted by you) wasn't the right one, rather than restatement of your 
position.

Don't get me wrong...I hope you're correct, but I thought some due
diligence might be prudent.  But if you really want to throw the switch,
I won't stand in your way.  In any case, if and when bwk replies to my
query [1], I'll post back to arch@.

[1]  I have this faint hope he'll remember me from when I was a summer
student at Bell Labs and thus might be more likely to reply quickly, but
I didn't actually work with him directly, it was a long time ago, and 
that division had a bazillion summer students.  Ah well.
