The dirpref code went into -STABLE on 21st September.

Here's how you can find this out:

% cd /usr/src/sys
% grep -R dirpref *

The file ufs/ffs/ffs_alloc.h contains references to dirpref, so you
can query the CVS repository for this file to find out when dirpref
went into -STABLE. The easiest way to do this is probably to use the
Web interface:

http://www.FreeBSD.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/sys/ufs/ffs/ffs_alloc.c
