Another correction is needed. I noticed after submitting the port that
linux_devtools has gone away. This was a prerequisite under older ports
snapshots for compiling MEX files from within Matlab.

I've written a wrapper that will allow compiling MEX files using
 linux_dist-gentoo-stage3.

I'll submit a unified diff after some testing. In the meantime, anyone
interested in trying it can download the port framework from
 http://www.neuro.mcw.edu/~bacon/FreeBSD_MRI/
