Can you try choosing the 'Visual kernel configuration' early in the boot
process, then disable all devices that are not present in your machine,
and see if this fixes the problem? There might be a conflict between
something that the kernel tries to probe for, and some component of your
system that misunderstands that probe as some kind of request.
