That's with a recent 2.2-stable system, during the nightly backup.
The drive is a:

The SCSI bus is only busy with the tape while this happens.  There are
only a CD-ROM and a CD-R drive (both duing nothing in the night hours)
in addition to the tape.  The disks are on another bus.

Still, i have no idea whether to blame the tape drive, or the ahc
driver.  There were no problems previously with the HP-DAT drive.
