Although your patch seems to solve your problem, it does overwrite the
existing value and possibily can cause breakage on other people.

Perhaps you can give further information such as dmesg (verbose
booting), cat /dev/sndstat and output of /usr/sbin/mixer.

Other people with simmilar ac97 codec but _NOT_ on this acer
travelmate should try this patch and confirm that it does not causing
any problem.
