As I understood the new rc.* stuff, one shouldn't change things in /etc/defaults/rc.conf, but (as before) in /etc/rc.conf (just copy the line from /etc/defaults/rc.conf and change to whatever you need), because /etc/rc.conf overrides /etc/defaults/rc.conf.
