This, and it doesn't solve the problem for users of a more mainstream
terminal like a VTxxx one.

I think what we need in this case is something like a library that
opens up to 4 ptys, and allows to hot-key switch between them.  I
don't know `screen', but i think it's doing something like this.  I'm
not sure whether it's possible to combine it with sysinstall though.
