|  /dev/wd1s4

|You want to look at different slices (MS-DOS partitions), not UFS
|partitions.

my mistake ... it's hard to RTFM wilst in panic mode

one more MAKEDEV and
mount_ntfs /dev/wd1s5 /usr2

did it ... thanks to all
