It seems the issue is fixed with RELENG_8 because of changes in CURRENT made before RELENG_8 was branched. I have no RELENG_7 based system handy to test, though. I suspect it may still have problems because there were no MFC for fix: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/usr.sbin/boot0cfg/boot0cfg.c#rev1.21
