If it's any consolation, I had a flawless PPP update install with the
boot.flp.

So what should I put in ver.c before recompiling a kernel?
Almost-2.1.5-RELEASE, 
Not-Quite-2.1.5-RELEASE, or
2.1.5-RELEASE-Limited.Collector's.Edition  ;-}
