That might provide a clue. OK, here goes but I see no trace of isic0: BTW, where does the KERNEL.hints file have to go?, does it have to be in /boot? Maybe that's the problem. I have this disk off-line at the moment to be able to boot my old system (which I'm using for writing these lines now) ALthough I did make install s, though I actually didn't check whether the kernel hints file went there.
