As Soeren Schmidt (ATA developer) mentioned elsewhere, 4.8R supports 
Highpoint 1520 and 1540 SATA cards, because they use the well known ATA 
chipset Highpoint 374 which has FreeBSD builtin support since 4.6R (?)
