Hi Mike, Thanks for the reply. I am still having problems with RTC with FreeBSD 5. It's only been recently that this has happened, it happened after make world and new kernel on 2/25. I have rebuild and reinstalled RTC trying to get it to work thinking it was out of sync from my system. here is what I get when I try and access /dev/rtc <--SNIP--> ===> Registering installation for rtc-2004.02.24.1_1 gentoo:/usr/ports/emulators/rtc root$ uname -a FreeBSD gentoo.ahze.net 5.2-CURRENT FreeBSD 5.2-CURRENT #35: Fri Feb 27 13:57:48 EST 2004 ahze@gentoo.ahze.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/Gentoo i386 gentoo:/usr/ports/emulators/rtc root$ kldstat | grep rtc gentoo:/usr/ports/emulators/rtc root$ /usr/local/etc/rc.d/rtc.sh start rtcgentoo:/usr/ports/emulators/rtc root$ cd files/ gentoo:/usr/ports/emulators/rtc/files root$ gcc test.c gentoo:/usr/ports/emulators/rtc/files root$ ./a.out /dec/rtc: Device not configured gentoo:/usr/ports/emulators/rtc/files root$ file /dev/rtc /dev/rtc: character special (202/0) gentoo:/usr/ports/emulators/rtc/files root$ dmesg | grep -i rtc WARNING: Device driver "rtc" has wrong version and is disabled. Recompile KLD module. WARNING: driver "rtc" used unreserved major device number 202 Thanks, Mike Johnson
