I don't know that I've every played with my Netgear MA401 wi card and
xmms at the same time before. I did so this afternoon and noticed that
xmms audio output "machine-gunned" twice, each less than a second,
during insertion. I initially thought it was just the interaction
between the pccard beeps and the music. However, I then fired up
dstumbler and it "machine-gunned" for a fraction of a second, about once
per second while dstumbler was running. So I went looking and the it
appears the whole machine pauses once per second while dstumbler does
whatever it does with the wi card.

The pause, and associated "machine-gunning", on removal of the card is
between two and six seconds long.

I haven't noticed any machine pausing before.

This doesn't seem to happen as often with my Orinoco Silver, but it does
happen, especially at removal and when dstumbler starts and stops.

I haven't used the wi cards in a couple of weeks.

Below is dmesg from my attemped use of the cards this afternoon.
