Hello,

I'm experimenting with MS-Hyper-V and saw that as soon as hv_storvsc.ko
is loaded, an IDE hdd attaches as 'da' _and_ 'ada' (the former seems to
be called =E2=80=9CFastIDE=E2=80=9D on =E2=80=9Csynthetic storage driver=E2=
=80=9D and gains efficiency
for HDD workloads).

There's the hv_pci_ata_disengage.ko pseudo driver, but that also makes
IDE cdrom unavailable =E2=80=93 same as disabling ata/atapci! Can't reall=
y get
the idea of that module=E2=80=A6

I'd prefere to disable 'ada' only (leaving cdrom via atapci->ATA_CAM->cd)=
=2E
But I can't find the place where =E2=80=9Cdevice ada=E2=80=9D gets define=
d for kernel
conf. =E2=80=9Cdevice ata=E2=80=9D is in GENERIC, along with da, sa, scbu=
s etc., but no
'ada' ?!?. No trace of 'ada' in DEFAULTS either!?!

Is there something like hint.ada.disable=3D1 ?
Can I use =E2=80=9Cnodevice ada=E2=80=9C to exclude it from my custom ker=
nel?

Thanks,

-Harry
