vile and xvile are vi work-alikes which allow editing of mulitple files in an editing session (it's based on uemacs, I think). xvile has an X interface a la lemacs, you can edit multiple files in a window but can't open multiple windows from on editing session. xvile is pretty small so you can just start another one, if you want multiple editing windows. Paul Fox, the maintainer of vile/xvile, did a port to FreeBSD which I've cleaned up so that it works. I put the ports make trees (including md5 checksums) onto freefall in my home directory: ~gj/vile-ports.tar. If some nice ports maintainer could put them into the tree (I don't have commit privs), it would be greatly appreciated. Gary J.
