Hello there!

I am presently trying to install Sybase 11.9.2 (RedHat rpms) on FreeBSD 3.4.

I found some good advice in the archives of this ML (thank you, Doug Poland
and Vladimir N.Silyaev ;-)
=>

I've fixed the initial shared memory problem by recompiling the kernel
with SHMMAX and SHMMAXPGS options:
options "SHMMAX=(SHMMAXPGS*PAGE_SIZE+1)"
options SHMMAXPGS=8192

That helped.
Various mail here mention the sybinit command, but I do not see that in
this version of Sybase - imho that only exists in the older version 11.0.3.
(We have used both versions, under RedHat and Suse).

I ran /opt/sybase-11.9.2/bin/srvbuild , which starts a GUI with
instructions to build a server. Our Sybase guy here told me what to enter
to make a simple database server and backup server (specify file names
for master device etc.).
The build gets pretty far, but fails in the end - the error log is
attached, please forgive this long mail.
The security problem mentioned in the logs below also can be found under
RedHat, does not prevent Sybase from running under Linux.
/opt is large enough and belongs to user sybase, group sybase.

Did I miss something?

We really want to get away from Linux here because of numerous problems -
I need to show that Sybase will run on FreeBSD, too, then life will
be easier :-)
(And we would be happy to buy licenses).

Cheers,
