OBJECTIVE:

To secure a creative Unix administration position with room for software development, research,
and tuning

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Proficient with most flavors of Unix.  Very familiar with the FreeBSD project including the full
release lifecycle from CVS to "make release".  Skilled with most common security utilities for
encrypted computing, intrusion detection, and access control.  Excellent automation and shell
scripting skills.

EMPLOYMENT:

June 2001 - Oct 2001 nCircle - Developed an automated build, release, install, and configuration
system using OpenBSD and FreeBSD that implemented Apache, PostgreSQL, and internal software.

Nov 2000 - Jan 2001 Accesslease through TAOS - Set up equipment for the companies collocation
facility including 2 Coyotepoint equalizers, 2 HP procurve 2524 switches, and about a dozen Linux
boxes. Arranged high availability using multihoming and round robin DNS. Installed Poptop as a VPN
solution on OpenBSD.

Oct - Nov 2000 TheMan through TAOS - Administered around a dozen Linux machines running Apache and
other applications. Wrote many shell scripts to watch over fulfillment and shipping systems. Set
up 2 Sun E250's as hot standby for E4500 machines running Oracle.

May - Oct 2000 CMP through TAOS - Worked  with a small team on various Sun machines setting up and
tuning Apache, ORCA,  proftpd, and Solaris.  Insured high availability using swatch, ORCA, and
netsaint together.  Migrated CMP ftp server from wu-ftpd to proftpd.  Deployed scripts and
configuration files using cfengine and ssh with RSA keys.

Dec 1999 Erdas - Helped update systems to become y2k compliant including Windows 95, 98, NT
workstation and Server. Promoted the use of VNC as a free and cross platform alternative to PC
anywhere. Suggested using Samba as a superior alternative to Windows for network storage.

Jul - Sep 1999 UsenetServer - Managed nntp servers including a SGI origin 2000. Installed and
developed a nntp cluster using Typhoon and Cyclone software. Installed a MRTG (bandwidth tracker)
server to gather statistical data for network utilization.

Apr - Jul 1999 Linux General Store - Managed their network and built machines for various purposes
including a dhcp server, name server, squid proxy, and a reproducible firewall using Debian, 
dthttpd, and Mindterm .   I was also a vital researcher for the book "Upgrading and Repairing PC's
the Linux Edition" ISBN: 0789720752 ( purchase from Yahoo )

Aug 1997 - Jul 1998 CompUSA - Computer and computer accessories sales and warranty technician work
at the master service center.

Apr 1996 - Jun 1997 Kennesaw State University - Assisted Academic Computing Lab users with DOS,
Windows, and UNIX applications. Supported Microsoft Office, Pine, Elm, and Netscape. Helped
students use CBT modules for various classes.

Sep - Nov 1995 Kennesaw State University, Small Business Development Center - System administrator
on a Sun Sparc 5 with about 30 users; Trained people on a geographic information systems
application which integrated census data and maps.

Aug 1995 - Apr 1997 UNIX system administration for Netime Internet service provider; Managed
server applications such as POP3, Apache HTTPD, DNS, and RADIUSD.
