Well,
i installed the kernel that was sent to me by someone with the same
computer. But the shutdown -h command still does not halt the system.
And while the PCMCIA card mgr starts, and recognizes the card, the modem
commands cannot access it. I used to use kppp on linux, which worked
flawlessly, but it doesn't work here, for some reason.
Also, i tried compiling with snd0 turned on, but the compile generated an
unresolved label error, so i hade to remove that option as well. I don't
get it. The kernel config was sent by someone with the very same
computer!
