If you're looking for a job, you'll probably know the job
advertisements at http://www.mysql.com/company/jobs/, many of which
are available anywhere in the world. Most MySQL people work from home
in a way very similar to the way we work in the FreeBSD project. In
particular, I'd like to draw your attention to the positions for
Senior Software Developer - DB Internals
(http://www.mysql.com/company/jobs/sr_software_developer_db_internals.html)
and Software Developer - DB Maintenance
(http://www.mysql.com/company/jobs/software_developer_db_maint.html).

So why am I sending this message? I'm personally looking for one or
two clever people to work in the online backup team. This is a
project which we hope to complete in about 6 months (so it probably
won't take more than a year). The positions are "permanent", however,
so this means that the people on the backup team will then move on to
other jobs within MySQL that are suited to their abilities. It would
be nice to get more BSD people in MySQL: there are quite a few
already, but not enough!

I've found MySQL to be the only company I've ever worked for that
really understands the Open Source development mentality. It's really
a lot of fun (yes, they're paying me, but not to say that :-) If
you're interested, contact me and I can give you more information.
