Thanks to Ulf and everyone who suggested solutions. The system has apparently stabilized after a slue of disk failures and rebuilds. I am standing by with replacement backplane & controller waiting to see if failures recur. I suspect this incident was related to a power failure/surge and reboot that occured immediatly prior. -- Barry Friedman Emax Computer Systems Inc., 480 Tweedsmuir Ave., Ottawa, Ont.
