Word will take it either way.  Generally the rtf extensions are registered
to Word on Microsloth systems anyway.

		I'm quite sure that you can make an RTF file, and give it a
".rtf" extension.
		That works fine. I've done it many a time.
		I think Word'll get confused if you give it a .doc tag
without
		it really being a .doc file.
